Happy 04 July...
Jul. 4th, 2003 02:12 pm...to my American friends and family.
America is the land of my birth; my work ethic and ability to take calculated, purposeful risks are directly attributable to this "can do" mentality. Thanks for that.
Whatever disagreements I have with matters of US government policy, I still love and admire many Americans. And I hope most Americans can accept that their friends and allies need not always support them to respect them.
It's fascinating the journey America has taken since that fateful day in "foul, fetid, fuming, foggy, filthy Philadelphia" in 1776. Happy 227th!

Date: 2003-07-04 07:47 am (UTC)Happy Birthday Uncle Sam
Date: 2003-07-04 09:40 am (UTC)I was going to call you last night to wish you happy nationhood day, but Bob was having a crisis with his girlfriend... a four hour telephonic one! Poor guy, some women sure do suffer from the green-eyed goblin. What's with that?
Anyway excuses aside...
I agree with you about the US: it is full of great compassionate and passionate people. If there is one word to describe the average American psyche, it's "determined"... and "confident", OK two words... and "gregarious", OK three words, shit, why restrict myself: "performers", "courageous", "strong-willed", "proud", "PATRIOTIC", which is leading me to the less complimentary ones, so I'll stop - it is all y'all's birthday. A celebration of high treason against my great country, against his magnificent Royal Highness, (he was the mad George wasn't he? or was that another of the English, German-speaking monarchs?). Aaaah history, how we look back and think "Jeez, that was really f--ked up!"
Love, me and Bodie and Hector Higginbottom. Hi to Max too, we shall meet anon. Only 11 more sleeps!!!!!
