Just in from my first VIFF film de l'année: Control, the Ian Curtis biopic. Curtis was the vocalist with Joy Division who killed himself when he was 23--and JD were on the cusp of stardom. Thus begot New Order.

Excellent film, great performances. And Samantha Morton kills it, yet again.

I'll check that film out. Today I went to see Battle In Seattle at VIFF and was very impressed. A good story and a setting that Hollywood never pays attention to. Good acting and the lead guy is woofy.

I'm glad the Battle of Seattle went well! I am planning to see it on Wed, especially since I was an extra in it. :)

Did you happen to see 24 hour party people? It starts out with Joy Division, but then moves into other stuff in the Manchester scene. Very interesting and entertaining.
