le patinage pas vitesse
Oct. 28th, 2008 07:19 amThe leaves have turned, the days are shorter, the air rather bracing. It all adds up to ice skating lessons season!
First lesson was last night, and what is becoming a tradition yet again led to the instructor being late for session one. Big Gay Ray™ is awesome though: a great teacher, great sense of humour, totally in your face queer in a ovely, fun way. Here's an example:
BGR: You need to learn it on both sides if you play hockey
Str8 guy: Really, can't I just swing around and use my good leg?
BGR: Well you could...but it's better to be totally versatile.
Too funny.
Our group is osensibly intermediate/advanced, but as is often the case a few folks can't even properly stop. So those of us who were in the right class were peeled into our own group, where we worked on doing a one skate hockey stop. When BGR told us that I thought "OMFG he's kidding, right? Right?" Nope, not kidding. And it weren't too bad. Go me!
