Deal fellow Canuckleheads,

After the current government proposes no substantive action regarding the economic crisis--yet found time to craft mean-spirited components that penalized women, workers and their competitor parties--the time for inaction must end.  That this government will fall at the next confidence motion is a fait accompli: it's merely a question of when.  

Whatever their preferences in terms of political philosophy, the financial markets loathe uncertainly--and inaction at a time of crisis.

Currently Governor General Michäelle Jean is returning to Canada early from an official overseas visit.  Upon her return she will almost certainly be asked to either:

1. Prorogue--close--Parliament, to delay the fall of the government
2. Call a new election, less than 2 months after the most recent (it would the 4th in 5 years and 3rd in 3)
3. Let the other parties in Parliament try to govern.

The Liberals and NDP have a written agreement to govern until at least 2010 with the support of the Bloc on matters of confidence. They are committed to delivering an economic stimulus package and relief to battered export industries. If you think health care and homeless are issues now, imagine what things will be like if several thousand more families lose their incomes.

I have emailed the Governor General asking her to choose option #3.  I urge you to do the same.

I think a coalition government would be really cool. It could be like a test of what proportional representation might be like.
