Winnie picked me up at my office at 16h05. We stopped at his to get his gear, then at mine to get mine. We were ready to go and got onto Denman Street around 525pm. But nothing was moving. We finally found our local traffic radio station and sure enough, there was an accident on the Lions Gate Bridge--and another on the 2nd Narrows Bridge. These two are the only ways to get from Vancouver to North and West Vancouver and are on opposites sides of the city. Downtown (where I live) became a parking lot.
After 20 minutes of moving one car length (or less) each time the traffic light changed, we decided to grab dinner and try a bit later. Good call: mere minutes after we got ready to join the queue they cleared the Lions Gate accident and we were over the bridge in less than 10 minutes. There was another accident on the access road to the highway, but we knew that and found a quick work-around.
We were on the Cypress Bowl Road in 10 more minutes...but were turned back due to poor road conditions (and no snow tires). So we went to Park Royal shopping centre instead. :)
But I'd've rather gone boarding... :(
