Bulgaria's wild card for Eurovision
Jan. 22nd, 2009 08:48 amBulgaria, like a lot of central/eastern European countries, takes the Eurovision fairly seriously. Having said that, they've only made it out of the semi-finals once, with 2006's fabulos Voda (Water) by Elitsa and Stoyan. Once again they've hosted a series of semi-finals in preparation for a proper national final 21 February. And as in recent years the organizers have selected some "wildcards": established, popular artists who can by-pass the semi-finals directly into the final. This is how Voda was selected, by the way.
