Certainly not a fiddle, at least not yet. Having said that, I did more sporty things this weekend than I've done in a long time.

Saturday morning [livejournal.com profile] toneyvr  and I had a nice 90 minutes of cross country skiing up at Cypress. The snow was a bit too crunchy to hit the black diamonds, but it was soft enough to have fun. No celebrity sightings, alas. Then it was home for the beginning of the Eurovision national final season: I viewed the UK and Danish finals and followed the Finnish and Romanian ones too.

Saturday evening [livejournal.com profile] querrelle  and I headed back to the Richmond Olympic Oval for some skating. Currently they're offering "free" skating there after 830pm. But that requires queueing with dozens of others: [profile] querrelle  rather sensibly suggested we pay the $8 each to avoid the brouhaha. What an awesome place to skate, though they need to monitor the on-ice activity: too many fookwits and random kids. By the time we got home I was right tired.

Sunday morning we saved the sharks to save the seals to save the fish to save the clams (lookit them clams!). As one does I provided support and leadership and let my minion do the heavy lifting. We adjourned to ours for a "nap", and then it was off to Cypress again--this time for snowboarding.

Can I just say thank you Jaysus, Mary and Joseph for the Super Bowl and a friend with 4WD? The mountain was empty and there was 15-20cm of fresh snow--and it kept falling the whole time we were there! I'm still finding my legs, so we only did 5 (long) runs, but that took about 2 hours. One of the reasons I live my season pass is I don't feel I have to board for 4+ hours (were I paying the $60 for a lift ticket).

Last night Slovenia had its national final (something very interesting won), as did the Netherlands (something much less interesting, but OK, won). I did laundry. 'Cause I'm a big party boy.

All in all, great weekend. And I may be boarding again tonight!

With all the instrumental stuff you'd hope they'd play live, but that won't be happening at Eurovision... Hmmz not sure about Slovenia, but it is indeed interesting (though I'm pretty sure cellos aren't meant to be handled that way).

Slovenia IS interesting; I quite like it, though it feels quite familiar...

I ... kind of expected this from The Netherlands. I'm certainly no fan of what won -- they DID surprise me with "Angel of the Night," which I REALLY ended up liking. It surprised the hell out of me ...

With the Drag Queen vamping behind the bedsheet, I thought it was going to be a surprise reveal of Azis!
