ce soir on danse

After work I'll be doing some phone work for the folks at YES BC-STV. As I've mentioned earlier, British Columbia is voting in May about changing our provincial electoral system from traditional first-past-the-post to single transferable vote. Wiki both terms for a background.

This issue is one of the main reasons I resigned as an NDP member. First, I wanted to be able to say I'm not a member of any political party. Second, the NDP as one of the 2 current parties in our Legislative Assembly hasn't exactly embraced a system that may or may not favour them at the expense of smaller parties.

But I'm not a real phone canvasser: I'm calling people who already said they would volunteer. I won't ever ask for money. Ew. Dirty.

I hope the STV thing happens this time. The binary left-right concept has been out of date for decades and anybody who's at all internet savvy is aware that there are so many different possible ways and points of view that they see the old political method as out of touch.

Good for you! I'm not sure I agree with STV (mind you, I am not a resident of BC either), but it's awesome that you are willing to make this commitment.
