2016 Games: RIO
Oct. 2nd, 2009 08:55 amWow, didn't see that coming at all:
Round one: Chicago out
Round two: Tokyo out
Either Rio or Madrid will be announced as the winner in a ceremony commencing at 09h30 PDT. BBC News and many other networks are carrying it live; otherwise there's a webstream at olympic.org.
This was almost universally seen as a Chicago vs. Rio contest. Chicago's ouster--especially after 2 Obamas and the one and only Oprah going to Copenhagen to lobby--is perhaps the most surprising defeat in Olympic Games awarding voting ever.
Edit: It's Rio!!!!!!!
