Telus TV versus Shaw TV
Oct. 16th, 2009 09:14 pmA couple of months ago the gouging I was getting from Shaw finally got to me. The short version is that when we got an HD TV we would either have to pay $400 out of pocket or $20/month rental for an HD PVR. Adding the HD channels also brought our bill up to over $140 a month, giving us about 80 channels. That includes $30/month for the internet connection (we don't have a land line).
Today I finalized our package with Telus TV. We're getting over 120 channels, twice the French channels, more HD. Savings? Well I just recreated the package on Shaw and we're saving $50 a month. $50!!!!
It's not paradise, though. Some channels aren't entirely crisp (BBC World, a channel we watch tons), and the PVR only has one line (meaning you can't watch one show whilst recording another). Apparently upgrades are going to address both these issues in a few months. No matter: the HD looks great.
