reason #4540566 to love the internet
Sep. 1st, 2003 01:37 amvideo conferencing, when you can't be there.
flights were uneventful, thanks to sleeping pills (rhovane), iPod and earplugs. No problems with connections and the luggage was first off the belt here in Hongcouver.
Here in Hongcouver. How strange that sounds.
I was fine, really. Until I hit the fresh BC air as I left the terminal--the bracing clarity tripped a wave of grief and I began to howl. Thankfully
toneyvr was at the appointed place at the appointed time. We loaded up, he gave me a good hug and kiss and we headed to Mt (un)Pleasant. Bags dropped, bath run, call made to
querrelle. Crying in the bath, tea and sympathy from
toneyvr. Then down to The Girls to set up my new temp residence in their office.
I tried using my old hub to configure both my Airport and The Girls' ethernet connection, but to no avail. So it's cables across for now. Then I dug out the video camera and set up the video chat with
querrelle. We used a conventional telephone for sound, but the combined effect of video and voice was greatly comforting. We're both grateful for the comforts of new technology.
Not as good as a real live cuddle kiss and chat. But better than text- or voice-only.
Time for bed, gotta hit the ground running tomorrow; no stat holiday for
jawnbc!
Thanks to all for your loving support. Truly appreciated.
