We are nearly at the halfway point of our journey down undah, and so far it's been lovely.
Upon our arrival the skies cleared and we enjoyed two days of 20C sunshine. followed by an archetypal Southern Ocean cold front that blasted of the fook out of Sydney with 100+I'm/hr winds. Since then it's been sunny and fresh, with temps around 16C each day.
Mynumber1 has featured prominently, including a 60 minute Thai foot massage that rendered me jello. Plus many, many flat whites. Baby Jeebus, please send us one café in Hongcouver that does a proper flat white!
Querrelle and I spent a lovely day in Manly as well. Two things out there got me nips hard like diamonds, mon. First is the the man, the invisible bargain man. I first came to Sydney in 1992; my last visit was 2006. Throughout that time there's always been these cheapo bargain shops with the same archetypal Aussie guy's voice:
souvahneqh Tay sheets fah te dollahs! Blank cayday fah two dolahs! small Indonaysian laces fah twenny dollahs! Y'all nevah pay full proice evah agen!
On this trip no more shops in the CBD, no recording, and Sydney felt a little sad for it. BUt thee was a shop still on the Corso in Manly and hearing his dulcet tones nearly brought tears of joy to my eyes. The merchandise is crap though.
The other thing out in Manly that pleased me was finding a cheap-n-cheerful hemp clothing store still open. 5 years ago I bought a couple of pullovers from them, one of which remains a fave of mine. They still had 'em and everyhing in the store was 50% off. So I grabbed a henley pullover and striped casual oxford.
Today is mynumber1 day and evening; tomorrow a day of leisure and eating. Sunday we fly to NZ, losing 2 hours. NZ will be MUCH busier. And colder. but also lovely.. :)
