Since [livejournal.com profile] querrelle  had an early start to his Buddhist thingie this morning, I agreed to accompany him and then take the car home. Apparently them there Shamballists gonna partay after the last om. So he's transit home.  And I took his car up to campus for a bit of nesting.

My lovely little office has floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the centre of campus--windows that are birfucated (not quite evenly) by a massive concrete support pillar. The desks in the room were custom built--and wedged into each slot.  Call me a New Yorker, but I can't bear to have my back to the door--even moreso when I start using my noise cancelling headphones again. So I figured the whole thing--moving one desk into the hall, pushing out the table and chairs, dragging the big desk out, shifting the wardrobe--would take maybe an hour. Especially on a Sunday morning when no one will be there.

Except the 20 grad students doing an instructional skills workshop all weekend. D'oh!

Anyway, they must've put the desks together in their slots because the big'un was behind the externalized ethernet port--which I discovered after having knocked the fucker off. The installers also rather lazily used the desktop to align the racks for a shelf--further locking the desk into place.  But I got the damned thing out...only to realize the only place I could stick the wee desk was right back where it started. Got that in place, then the big desk. W00t!

The wardrobe wouldn't budge--largely because it's on carpeting and won't slide, even after having been largely emptied. A lovely bear who earlier had offered to help was duly recruited and the big lug whomped that puppy into place. After that I got the table and chairs in order, then put together my workstation again. Aside from needing 2 new ethernet cables (my desk is now on the opposite wall of the port), it's all good.

I even got a bit of work done. Then got the hell outta Dodge.

And here [livejournal.com profile] paterson_si , you caught me!

This is the funniest line I've read on LJ in a long time. Thank you for letting me steal it.
