It's saturday afternoon, and I'm knackered. Despite an early night (asleep by 01h00) and a nice lie-in (until 10h30). Followed by a fry up (beef snausages and fried eggs) and watching Moonstruck on telly. "Do you love him Loretta?" "No Ma." "Good, because when you love them drive you crazy. Because they can." Ah the Castorinis.

I'm now in my office at UBC, laptop at the ready, transcription machine all set up. Or sort of set up...tape's in, pedal is installed (the pedal allows you to control the tape play with your feet, freeing your hands for typing), power's on but I can't figure out how this fookin' model adjusts voice speed. When transcribing, it helps a lot to slow the voice speed down about 10%--makes for much less rewinding/reviewing.

My knee-jerk reaction is to say "fook it" and leave. But I've got 9 tapes from Oz and the Vancouver one's are coming in (2 so far, a third booked for Tuesday). At the very least I need the Oz ones done before I get back in January. Perhaps I should make an offering to the Muse of Support Staff (Notmyjobone?) for inspiration. Meh.

However there was a miracle of sorts today. No burning bush with a lamb behind it, nor the image of Our Holy Mother in a mayonnaise jar, but me Da responded to my email. Puhraze da baybay Jaysus! Who knows, maybe he'll even show up on time at the airport Thursday night?

I think my dad would prefer me to visit him. However, his current residence is awesome (a half mile downhill from a nat'l forest! walking trails, waterfall, really beautiful and he's never gone up there.)

I'm getting lots of work piled on with my classes. I didn't bring any home this weekend as I have 3 hours between classes on Mon & Wed and I've decided that's when I should grade projects.

Miamiartexchange.com got a new calendar installed so that ppl can list events themselves. This will save me much time. I've emailed my two previous volunteers to restart entering events and they've gone back to it. Gawd that's a burden lifted. :-)
