Mind you manners. Manners make the man. Manner don’t constrict us, they allow us to all feel more comfortable.

OK, fine. I’m board with all this, sorta. Question: how do you eat Singapore noodles tidily and at a reasonable pace? When you have a beard? Multiculturalism, even the tourist model, has its pitfals.

Said noodles were consumed at luncheon with our Man Seumas, aka [livejournal.com profile] beardoc. Seumas and I have exchanged ether greetings--directly and via the BML--for a number of years. Always lovely in text, even lovelier in person. The three of us had a good chat--engaged but whimsical, something most het men seem unable to master. Their loss.

Oh muh gawd, did I say that out loud?

The pre-lunch morning at work was pretty productive. Another draft done, and I’m still finding the paper interesting--and excellent sign. Now to leave it alone until tomorrow, lest I fook it all up. Was trying to source some papers online, but UNSW doesn’t subscribe to EBSCO Academic Search--that means that the positivist, medical wankers can access their stuff electronically, and skip the odious library. Us touchy-feely social scientists have to drag our furry butts up the &*^%amn stairs, and whip it out. The photocopy card, biensûr.

Music, makes the people come together
This is me loving my iPod, the kewlest example of commodity fetishism in my life. Certainly it greatly facilitated my move from Hongcouver to Sydney; rather than packing CDs, I ripped (at 224mp/s) what I wanted and loaded up the iPod--1600 songs, a complete back up of my data and digital files, and still have 8GBs of room. Which also allows me to spin tunes through decent speakers on my PowerBook.

Here’s the current iteration of my Most Frequently Played:

Clearly I like Céline, and québecois music in general. But the list also includes songs queued up by the Random Play function--many of which I’ve fast-forwarded through.
