Dinner last night was a larf and a harf, just what the Dr. ordered. The group ended up being me, my cousins (and spouses where applicable) and Tommy. Theresa and Kathleen didn't make it after all. We et at the Tuscany Grill in Bay Ridge Brooklyn (wadday mean ya don' know wheah it izz? waddya stoopid?). Filet mignon med/rare. We were discussing how our notions of "racism" have changed from our very very oh so very childhoods [example: we called the local Chinese laundry 'the chinks.' to their faces. they just smiled. creepy, eh]. 3 of the guys were current (Jimmy and Desi) or former (Tommy) NYPD, so their evolutions were particularly good to hear about. And too fookin' funny. We're all strange, but in a critical mass, we seem normal to one another.

May/may not be a good thing. Holy Mary mother of Gawd pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Hey men.

I went to Tom's for the night but we got home quite late. Theresa was in bed and went back to work early this morning. I saw the girls briefly, then grabbe the train to the city to meet [livejournal.com profile] puzzld1. Rendez-vous was pretty painless and we headed down to the West Village to wander and hang out. And she watched while I shopped. I found a DVD I've been obsessively searching out for several weeks. I didn't find the Quentin Crisp book [livejournal.com profile] querrelle wanted--it's out of print m'luv. :(

[livejournal.com profile] puzzld1 and I had a nice day, but it was long: I said adieu just after 5pm. Had a couple of other things to do in the city and picked up pizza for dinner. Am currently back in the basement. Laundry's gone in the dryer so my clothes will be all clean. Tomorrow is lunch with Julie, St. Esprit du jewelry, with whom I attended Oswego State in the mid 80s. By 1990 she was an assistant district attorney; I was in a halfway house.

What can I say? I'll take most any path except the most direct one.

Actually my partner was born on a couch in Bay Ridge, a little "human green-card-to-be" for his visiting Norwegian parents. *g* He still lapses into Brooklynese on occasion but the Seattle School District sent him to speech therapy to get rid of his "offensive" accent when the family moved out here in the '60s! :b

Hey I just want to say I'm thinking about you and your mom; I'm glad you managed to get out and have a little fun. You seem like a very good son.
