Back in Hongcouver...
Nov. 3rd, 2003 10:02 pm+where it's 6C (it was 26C in Sydney)
+where my bed is narrow and empty (it's wide and has
querrelle in Sydney)
Back teaching today; everyone's back from the 2 week baptism-by-fire practicum. All excited about teaching and stuff. Good class (subject: homophobia) was very good; bad class (subject: morals and values in education) were pretty good too. Caught up on some admin stuff and am looking forward to my nightly conversation avec Max.
It's funny. When we did the bye-byes in August I was a mess for the better part of a week. I actually feel good right now--not happy about the separation--about us. Things. A sense that all will be well. I'm moving towards acceptance of being in Australia for the longer term, and getting past tolerating it. Max quite rightly called me on my negativity during our visit: I have to find things to celebrate about Oz, or I'll drive us both mad. Seriously.
I mean, Canadian chauvinism aside, there are a gazillion people on this planet who would happily trade in their undemocratized, impoverished, excluded lives for a spell in Oz. It's not purgatory.
