geeze, that's no good. :-( i hope there is a way which you can do it. :-)

a friend of mine and her girlfriend did the immigration route. her girlfriend got really depressed not being allowed to work until they were processed (2 years) and it was hard for them to live on the same one low wage. they got through it, but it seemed to take a big toll on them.

don't know if i mentioned before my school can sponsor overseas students if they do a full time course... still, i believe you can only work twenty hours a week with a student visa. age is no barrier either, unlike working holiday visa.

lui. *hugs*

My understanding of the law is that you have to live together for a year. So, you would have to be over there for that clock to start going. I know the 5 yeras thing can be used if you aren't currently living together, is that what you're talking about? (sorry, my french isn't robust enough to say all this) You need to provide documentation of your relationship for these folks, so I'd start saving email, letters, phone records, and getting lots of snapshots.

There's a Gay and Lesbian immigration task force that has people in Sydney, http://www.glitf.org.au/.

The DIMA website also has loads of information. I can send you the relevant .pdf files if you want. I think, if you got a visa on your own (which you could easily do) you wouln't be able to live in Sydney right away. Perhaps a commute from Melbourne or Brisbane isn't as bad as the trans-pacific flight action for Vancoober?

Would it be helpful for you to talk to my friends in Sydney who have been through the bring your gay boyfriend over process?

Will you and Max adopt me as your love child and bring me over, too?

I never quite understand Max's citizenship, I thought that he is a UKer, taking a break in Ozland ... how about the reverse path, him coming to Mapleland?! You know, the news is buzzing about UK passing the same sex union thing! *sigh* when are these backward "1st world" countries going to catch up?!

Do you really want a 4th citizenship, is there any other way, like visiting faculty, research fellow, etc etc? Good luck, you know Mike and I are struggling everyday on the same issue too ... so, you and Max are always in our thought! *HUGS*

Unfortunately, my P's are coming in town the same day you are coming in, and they have all these plans ... Napa, Santa Cruz ...

Are you going to be at the Starbucks on 18th and Castro doing coffee Saturday early afternoon?! ... that's the only time I can say for sure it is my time!

Well, I hope I will see you (even for a few moments) ... if not, happy holidays *HUGS* .... I am sure we will have chances later ...

Have a great weekend here ...
