Lord of the Rings the Return of the King. Popped into the noon matinée today. Great, long, but great.

Were it but for the 2 hosers behind me whose lack of impulse control led them chatter like they were watching it at home with a 24. Nothing makes me go postal like chatting in the cinema.

I was watching that Irish movie about the seal people a few years ago and enjoying it immensely. In the darkness of the doorway two employees were gabbing about who-freaking-knows-what. An older couple sitting nearby yelled back to them, "Why don't you two just shut up!" They were shocked and quickly went out into the hallway. (Sorry, I don't remember the name of the movie but, it had a foreign title and film maker, and it's been probably 10 yrs now since I saw it. In the movie this Irish guy captures this 'seal woman' by hiding her seal skin that she wore while in the ocean, they have some kids and one of them has some encounter with some spirits. Eventually, the kids find the seal skin, the woman sees it, pulls it over her human body and goes back to the sea, leaving her husband and children.)

And you didn't tell 'em to shut the f--- up??? What happened to Mama Egan's boy? What happened to the "yuh horn blows... does yuh muthuh?" New Yorker? Canada got your tongue? Actually, these days I wouldn't hesitate to ask them to be quiet; and that directness I learned from you. Though the request would be more like "please be quiet, you're distracting me!"

Just saw it meself last night. What stunning imaginations the creators have, and then to pull the visuals off so convinvingly. I found my spine tingling with awe several times during the movie. On the downside, there was far to much glorification of violence, though when fighting PURE evil, when violence is the only recourse... I dunno, I'm ambivalent. Tho' again, the battle scenes were visually magnificent. Oh, I'm a bad, bad, person, Smeagul would never have liked the violences. But I gotta see it again!
