So we finally went to The Footy last night*. Footy can mean:
-Australian Rules Football (a derivative of Gaelic Football), aka “Footy”
-National Rugby League, or NRL, aka “Footy”
-Rugby Union, or Union, aka “Footy”
We were at Aussie Rules--the Sydney Swans versus the Brisbane Lions. It’s a fast-paced game, and since I was sujected to a season of playing Gaelic when I was 8 (”don’t throw it to me, I could get hurt!”), I picked up the rules pretty quickly.
Wedding RSVPs are rolling in. Rings are ready. Work is very, very stressful for both of us, but we’ve got each other. And so much more.

Date: 2004-08-01 05:37 pm (UTC)I was spared having to participate in Gaelic sports due to my grandfather's death when I was 7, though he did take me up a number of times to Manhattan College to watch the games. Of course there was also a parade of various relatives or friends or acquaintances of friends' relatives who all played for whatever team back in Old Sod. Or some such.
I never did pick up sports after his death - little brother came along, Satan's Spawn, and he was a natural athlete. And there ain't nuthin' more embarassing to the budding queer aesthete cum athlete than having a younger brother more naturally athletic than one, non?

And congrats on the wedding!
