Date: 2005-06-24 11:05 pm (UTC)Heh... a couple of years ago, i wrote about this on a forum. People didn't understand. I moved here from Toronto back in 1989 and yeah, it's always struck me how neighbourhood-oriented people are -- and i'm no different. I live in the Plateau, i work downtown, but i rarely go downtown other than for work, and i don't know anything about any other areas of the city. I sort of know where they are (NDG, Lachine, etc.) but i have no reason to go there at all. I have no reason to venture more than a 4-5 block radius from where i live since i can find everything i need and then some. I actually like this, compared to how things were in Toronto.

Date: 2005-06-25 04:35 am (UTC)Most anglo Canadians aren't aware or won't acknowledge this. And right now it's the Bloc who've forced the Liberals to commit in writing to calling a vote on equal marriage before the summer recess.
That's why I celebrate la fête. I'm grateful that those who wish to break up Canada have, in fact, made this country's social union among the most progressive in the world.
Now the taxation in Québec is fooked, especially in light of the services proferred. But I'd live there in a heartbeat, given a good job for me and the husband. Though I'd still end up in Vancouver no doubt. I like my laidback life.
