Grade one: one happy chappy

Originally, purely, I was a sweet, sweet boy. I smiled, I sang, I laughed, I hugged. I wanted everyone to like me, but I also pretty much liked everyone else too. Mrs. Fay, an ould skool primary school teacher (who no doubt attended Normal School rather than teacher's college was nurturing and tough. We all felt special, we all wanted to please her by doing our best. As far as I can remember, she never shamed any of us. Even when she flunked me for penmanship.

My penmanship, btw, still sux. But I'm a frickin' doctor, so neener neener!

Your penmanship sucks but can you manage a keyboard and a tube of KY at the same time? Oh, yes you can, and I'll bet Mrs. Fay didn't forsee that event.

Well, yeah. My comment about these pix has been that you were always incredibly cute, and yet there's definitely a happiness (or un-self-consciousness) quotient in the earlier ones.

Anyway: I almost got held back in third grade because of penmanship. Not to disagree with poohbearjim (of whom I think the world) at all ... but to almost get held back (or threatened with same) when you're an obviously smart kid, just because you can't make the letter "f" the right way? Puh-leeeeeeze!!!!!!

I see his point...but I think keyboarding is as valuable.

I marvel at folks who did PhDs before word processing was widely available...

Well I agree...sort of. But in my case it really was pointless. My handwriting was the same if I spent 5 seconds or 30 minutes.
