With a bit of age comes a bit of wisdom. And I've been to enough conferences to know that a full day spent in sessions can only result in burnout--and an emotional bottoming out the day after the conference. So I slept in a wee bit and arrived late morning. Some good sessions, and my paper was well-received--by the 5 people who turned up!

Good thing my ego isn't fragile...I just wanna be loved, is that so wrong?

The queer caucus had its meeting, including a great guest speaker (John DeCecco); he started the queer studies program at SFSU. As the other homos/allies try to organize getting to dinner, I bid them adieu and caught the Muni for my own dinner plans with some of da boyz from LJ: sfkuma, sinnabor, drewbearsf and that_dang_otter. Food was OK, company more than.

Then most of us (save sfkuma) toddled off to the bearhug. Tons of fun, quite literally. It's now 2am and time for bed--2 more sleeps til I'm back in Sydney and with querrelle!

They also found a bunch of prostitutes somewhere around the African subcontinent at some point that didn't get infected, and tested them to find they had a mutation that was in one of the proteins that HIV uses to enter the cell - so they were uninfectable. I don't know if anything more has been done with it, though.
