Hey friends!

I'm thinking of extending my upcoming sojourn to Europe by about a week. So I'd like to find somewhere interesting, non-homophobic, and inexpensive to spend up to 6 days. 6 days in a region/country, not necessarily the city I fly into.

It would have to be out of London or out of a UK airport easily accessible from London via rail or transit. I've been pounding the online pavement, but to no avail. Any suggestions? I will have spent a week in Ireland (Dublin/Belfast) by then, so not the UK itself.

Suggestions on destinations? Airlines? Airports? Outfits? Go raibh mile maith agat!

Amsterdam? I've heard it's a pretty hip place. Lots of great new and early music.

Madrid has some of the hottest men in the world. Not a long flight...accessible by EasyJet or any of the majors. Great local transportation...Metro goes all the way to the airport. Great bear scene/nightlife.

Slovenia was going to be another suggestion of mine...it seems to be one of those on-the-verge-of-being-discovered-by-mainstream-America places.

How about Luxembourg/Trier?

I'm curious, which ones to you were "shockingly bad"? I personally thought Israel tanked vocally, and we didn't really notice how off parts of Bulgaria were until we watched it the second time around.

Belgium was WAY off -- VERY painful. I'm wondering how they got douze points from Georgia o_O

Edsilia wasn't SO off -- I still say she sang fairly competently.

Finally, someone agrees with us on Estonia! That was Carl's favourite, and my Israeli friend Tzachi stared at us in disbelief. "... she was offkey throughtout the whole song!!" o_O

Yeah, Cyprus had some problems, alas ... :: sigh ::

I know you've been to Belgium a hundred times, but -depending on when you're in Europe- Antwerp is hosting the Gay Games in July.

Quick! Take part!

I had a good time in Timisoara in south western Romania. It's small but interesting. The language is similar to French.
A place with more options would be Budapest. It's pretty neat too. Or how about Hamburg?

Budapest? I would suggest Prague but these days it's full of drunken young brits on cheap stag tours apparently.

Suggestions...

Bilbao is easy to get to (BA flights at reasonable prices) and the food is just to cry for - and it's not a hot place.

Asturias (Oviedo and Gijón) has Easyjet. A completely untouristic place for food, scenery and beaches (albeit cold water).

Budapest (Also with easyjet). My friends Àlex and Eduard are there and they are telling they're having a great time.

How about some Italy? It's expensive, yes, but it's always a safe bet.

And Easyjet is also flying to Istambul and Warsaw!

I can recommend Berlin, and I believe Air Berlin fly from Stansted direct to Tegel. Arco guest house is reasonably priced and close to the gay scene, the metro, the Kurfurstendam and Europe's biggest department store - KaDeWe. Wherever you choose, gute reise!
