It was fun.Once.

When the show started, I thought “oh cool, she’s still got her voice.” By the third song it was clear that, voice or not, Debbie Harry didn’t have any wind. So a lot of the longer notes were clipped. Or not sung at all. And what I first took as a quirky style of dancing onstage, probably reflects a lack of cardio capacity.

Not that I’m in better shape. But I don’t charge 100$ a head for folks to watch me waddle. Did I say that out loud?

Regardless, [livejournal.com profile] querrelle and I had a great time. We sand, we danced, we smooched, we laughed at poor Debbie. We perved Clem Burke, who still drums like a madman—a very skilled madman. Of the original members, the only ones not present were Jerry Harrison (no longer with the group, dunno why) and Chris Stein (ill and back in the States). Jimmy Destri and Frank Infante were excellent on the ‘boards, as were the guest guitarists and bass player. Band-wise, they were tight. And the set was nearly 2 hours with no break. We got our money’s worth.

Here’s what I can recall from the playlist…having only 2 brain cells left over from the 80s, my short-term memory ain’t the best:

(something new and unknown)
Dreaming
Sunday Girl
The Hardest Part
Atomic
Call Me
Hanging On The Telephone
The Tide Is High
One Way Or Another
Union City Blues
War Child
Maria
Rapture
Heart of Glass

I was afraid Rapture would be a disaster, and it wasn’t. Atomic and Heart of Glass were probably the best. No 11:59, no Denis, no The Hardest Part.
