All I want for
Oh, and the Liberals as Betty's Loyal Opposition. Let Paul Martin Junior unpinch his "I hadda make same-sex marriage legal! I hadda!" nose and go back to the private sector, where mediocre leadership isn't nearly as damaging.
Re: No Idea
Date: 2006-01-21 01:10 am (UTC)NDP: social democrats. never even the Official Opposition nationally; most seats 43. Currently 18. Only party that did not allow a free vote on same-sex marriage.
Bloc: Québec separatist party, only runs in Québec. Mostly social democratic, but a handful of right-wing members from rural ridings. Created in '90, sworn to only run candidates in one election cycle (93), 5 elections later...
Greens: 4% national vote, never a seat. Not a factor. oh and more pro-business than most other Green parties worldwide.
Liberals: centrist party, big-tent, more leftish, but solidly pro-business. Brought down human rights code and SSM legislation--but only after the courts compelled it, and even then they allowed the only 2 free votes on human rights issues in the last 30 years nationally. Not enemies but we are treated expediently.
Conservative: almagation of a British Tory (small government, libertarian) and regional social conservative (rural mostly) parties. Voted almost entirely against SSM. Many members, including leader, are evangelical Xtians.
